Building a Fair and Future-Focused Internship at Softsasi

At Softsasi, we are not just building products, we are building people. Internships are often the first real step into the professional world, and that experience should empower, not restrict. Recently, we received thoughtful feedback from a prospective intern regarding certain clauses in our internship agreement. That feedback highlights important areas where clarity and fairness matter.

This post is written to ensure that our current and future interns clearly understand our policies and, more importantly, to improve them so no one faces unnecessary confusion or limitations.

1. Post-Internship Work Freedom

Internships are meant to prepare you for your career, not limit it.

Previously, our agreement included a clause restricting interns from joining similar companies for a period of 6 months after the internship. Upon reflection, we recognize that this can create unnecessary barriers, especially since internships are primarily learning experiences.

Updated Approach:

Instead of a long restriction period, Softsasi will follow a much shorter and more practical guideline:

  • Interns are free to pursue any opportunity after completing their internship.

  • A minimal buffer period of 15 days may be applied before joining a directly competing organization, mainly to ensure smooth transition and knowledge handover if required.

This ensures fairness while maintaining professional responsibility.

2. Intellectual Property and Ownership

Another key concern raised was about ownership of work created during the internship.

It is important to clearly distinguish between:

  • Work created using company resources or for assigned tasks

  • Independent personal work done outside the company scope

Updated Clarification:

Softsasi will only claim ownership of work under the following condition:

  • If the work is created using company resources, tools, data, or as part of assigned responsibilities, it will belong to Softsasi.

However:

  • Any independent project, idea, or development created outside working hours without using company resources will remain fully owned by the intern.

This ensures that interns retain full control over their creativity and personal growth.

3. Applicability of This Policy

To remove any ambiguity, this updated policy is not limited to new agreements only.

  • These principles apply to all interns of Softsasi

  • This includes past, current, and future interns

  • The policy will be considered valid regardless of what is stated in previous or upcoming versions of the internship agreement

Our goal is to ensure fairness and consistency for everyone associated with Softsasi.

  • Interns should feel free to explore opportunities after learning

  • Creativity should never be restricted beyond fair boundaries

  • Agreements should be transparent, balanced, and respectful
